I’m incredibly excited to release my first book, ‘New Jersey State Archives: Workbook & Research Log’. This book is designed to help organize your research and is based on the hundreds of hours that I've personally spent at the NJSA and is guaranteed to help organize and streamline your research.
It begins with a brief introduction (only 3 pages) that explains the types of records that are housed at the Archives and from there, it's broken into 5 strategic sections:
- Part 1 ➝ "To Be Searched”: 50 pages (750 lines) dedicated to records you want to look for.
- Part 2 ➝ “Found”: 50 pages (750 lines) dedicated to keeping tracking of the records that you found. Once you find a records from Part 1, you copy the information into this section and can remove it from Part 1.
- Part 3 ➝ “Not Found”: 30 pages (240 lines) dedicated to records that you could not find at the Archives. Keeping track of what you could not find is just as important as keeping track of what you could find, as it keeps a search history of spellings, names, places, etc. These lines are wider than others, allowing for you to include specific notes.
- Part 4 ➝ Open Notes: 30 blank pages to allow for open notes.
- Part 5 ➝ The New Jersey State Archives Vital Records Indices: 126 pages of indexes, straight from the New Jersey State Archives and updated for their 2025 holdings. This section includes the microfilm lists for Births (including Stillbirths, Delayed Births, and Birth Corrections), Marriages, and Deaths.
- With the purchase of this book, I’m also sharing a copy of my digital spreadsheet, which you can access by scanning the QR code in the book’s introduction. You can use it to digitize your handwritten work from this book, ensuring you always have a complete record of everything you want, have, and couldn’t locate.
